Sudbury, Suffolk is an Ancient Market Town. Sudbury’s first known mention as a Market Town was in the Doomsday Book of 1086, however a Royal Charter reveals there was a market in Sudbury as far back as 1009. This vibrant, traditional, outdoor market is still a central part of Sudbury life today. Held every Thursday and Saturday on Market Hill in the centre of town, no visit to Sudbury is complete without soaking up the true character of the town with a mooch around Sudbury Market!
We will proudly be celebrating the nationwide Love Your Local Market campaign in 2026, bringing together the local community for a fun-filled event promoting the importance of supporting independent markets and small businesses.
We’ve got some special activities planned, designed to encourage visitors of all ages to explore and enjoy our market. Visitors will have the chance to enter a social media giveaway to win a specially curated hamper packed with goodies from our fantastic market traders, showcasing the very best local products and produce.
To help spread the Love Your Local Market spirit, we will also be giving away free branded stickers to shoppers throughout the event. Families can take part in a children’s market trail, encouraging younger visitors to discover different stalls and learn more about the market community. Children who complete the trail will receive a small prize as a reward for taking part.
Keep an eye out on our social media for more details to come!
