Newark has proudly held a market in the town marketplace since the 12th century and was the first town in England to hold a market on a Wednesday. The marketplace itself is one of the most attractive marketplaces in the UK containing many historic and heritage-rich buildings.
Our weekly markets are held on:
Monday (except Bank Holidays) – pre-loved and collectors market
Wednesday – general retail market
Thursday – pre-loved and collectors market
Friday – general retail market
Saturday – general retail market
Regular stall holders include fruit and vegetables, cut flowers and plants, clothes, leather goods, bread and cakes, fresh fish, pet foods, crafts, meat, fabrics, watches and watch batteries/repairs, books and carpets.
We will be celebrating Love Your Local Market 2025 by promoting the event on our digital display screens, radio adverts, banners around the town, social media (our page has the larges amount of followers for any organisation in the Newark area) and good old word of mouth!
