Halifax Borough Market is an award-winning Victorian market, first opened in 1896 and still at the heart of the town today. Its historic character shines through in the ornate clock tower, striking glass roof and intricate architectural details, creating a unique and memorable shopping experience.

From traditional family-run butchers and grocers—many passed down through generations—to newer traders offering a diverse range of international produce and street food, the market blends heritage with innovation.

This Grade II* listed building was named Best Market by the National Association of British Market Authorities in 2008 and is set to celebrate its 130th anniversary this year.

Recent improvements have enhanced both the visitor and trader experience, including upgrades to the clock tower area, improved pop-up units in The Albany Arcade, and the creation of a flexible events space for use outside trading hours.

Home to The Albany Arcade, this modern, fully equipped event space has state-of-the-art sound and lighting which is available to hire for events and has played host to many performers, most recently Ellur.
