Newcastle-under-Lyme’s historic town centre market is a vibrant focal point of the borough, offering a mix of traditional shopping and speciality events throughout the week. Located in the heart of the town, the market is home to three distinct experiences: the General Market, the twice-weekly Antique Market, and a programme of themed Sunday event markets.

The general market operates Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday each week, bringing together a wide variety of traders selling fresh produce, clothing, household goods, crafts, fast food and everyday essentials. It provides a lively and accessible shopping environment for residents and visitors alike, with stalls arranged across the market square.

The popular antique market, held on Tuesday and Thursday, offers a more specialist experience. Traders showcase a diverse range of antiques, collectables, vintage items, and curios, attracting collectors and browsers looking for unique finds.

Alongside these, the town also hosts a calendar of Sunday event markets held on selected dates throughout the year. These themed markets often feature are co-hosted by Newcastle-under-Lyme Market team and Castle Artisan Market selling handmade crafts and seasonal attractions. We also work with Vegan Festival and Record Fair organisers. These event markets help to animate the town centre and support local independent businesses.

Operating times generally run from early morning through to mid-afternoon (approximately 9:00am–3:30pm, depending on the market type and day), though event markets may extend hours or vary according to their theme. Together, these markets contribute to Newcastle-under-Lyme’s rich heritage, creating a welcoming and dynamic town centre experience.
