Stockton is an award-winning large outdoor market in the North East. We will once again be participating in the LYLM event (through branding and our social media campaign), with our main celebrations being held on Sat 16th May.

For our LYLM day, we will be incorporating the local celebration of the bicentenary of the invention of the friction match, invented by John Walker right here on Stockton High Street. We will host an interactive trail that spans the full length of the market, characters such as John Walker himself, and be inviting the local ‘Match Society’ to be involved on the day, and to share their love and interest in the hobby of Phillumeny.

We hope to attract families to enjoy our market, our local businesses, and to walk away knowing something about Stockton’s history that they may not have known before!
